Photo Manipulation
The following tutorial will utilize the
modify opacity selection, deformation tool and lighting effects in Paint Shop Pro 5.
We will be combining three different graphics together. Feel free to download and use these if you would like.
A note: Select graphics that have a single color background if possible. This way it is easier to select just the object
from the photo. The flag photo has a basic background, but we still have to use the lasso tool.
Open up all graphics in paint shop pro. Click on the flag photo to select it.
Select the lasso tool/point to point/ anti alias.
Click around the entire flag to outline it (this may take a few times to get the hang of)
Select edit/copy
Click on the apple photo to select it.
Select edit/paste/as new layer.
Position the flag in the center of the apple.
Open the layers palette and slide the opacity bar to 50
This will creat an opacity to the flag so that it appears "stuck" to the apple.
Select the deformation tool - this will create an outlined box with small squares
located at various points around the box
move your curser over the upper left box, hold down the shift key and
click on the upper left box and drag the upper left corner of the flag up so that it appears to
wrap around the side of the apple
Do the same to the lower left box.
This should make the flag look like it is wrapping around the apple.
Select the lasso tool again and cut out the apple from the background.
Select edit/copy merged
Click on the flag background and select edit/paste as new layer
Select effects/illumination/lights and create a nice lighting effect on the apple
Select images/3D effects/add drop shadow and add a drop shadow
The image should look like the one below:
Once again, try out your own variations on photo manipulation.
