Creating Oval Buttons with Images and Text Added

Create a new image 125 x 50, 16.7 million colors, background color= white
- Please note: create your new image with a black background if you would like to create transparent images for dark backgrounds
- Add a new layer by clicking layers/new raster layer from the top menu bar, or click on the new layer image on the layer palette
- The layer palette and tool options palettes can both be viewed by clicking on view/toolbars/and checking the box for the tool and layer palette.
- The toolbars can be clicked on and off easily while working by using the tab key
- Select the selection tool
- From the tool options palette select eclipse, feather=1 and make sure antialias is checked
- Starting from the center of your image, click, hold and draw and eclipse
- Select the fill tool which looks like a paint bucket
- Click on the small arrow located on the foreground color and change it to gradient (see image below)
- Select the foreground and background color of choice and then click inside the eclipse with the fill tool to fill with a gradient
- Select Effect/3d effects/inner bevel and change your settings to match the graphic below
- Now you have created your button. Save the blank button for future use as a paint shop pro file
To add images to buttons
- Open up the image you wish to add to the button and make sure it is at least 16 million colors by clicking on colors/increase color depth/16 million colors
- Select the magic wand tool/match mode=RGB/tolerance=20/feather=0
- Click on the background area of your image with the magic wand tool
- Select selections/invert
- Select edit/copy
- Select edit/paste as new image
- Select image/resize and change the height box to 35 (depending on the size of your buttons you can resize the image as large or small as needed)
- Select edit/copy
- Click on your button image
- Select edit paste as new layer
- Save this file also to use when adding new text to the same button
Adding text to buttons
- Add a new layer to your button graphic
- Click on the text tool which looks like a capitol A
- Click on your image to bring up the text box
- Select your font (I used monotype corsiva) size=14/bold
- Click on the standard text button and change your fill color to the color you would like the font to be
- Make sure floating is the only box checked on the lower area

Type your text in the text area box and then click OK (see image below)
- Select edit/3d effects/drop shadow change the vertical=1/horizontal-0/opacity=100/blur=4.9/color=black
- Save your image as a gif and you are finished
