Creating Marble Text

We will first create a marbled pattern and then use the fill tool to place the image on the text.

  • Create a new image 100 x 100/ bgcolor=white 16 million colors.
  • Create a new layer by clicking the new layer graphic at the bottom of the layers palette.
  • Change the foreground color to black.
  • Select the airbrush tool - set the paper texture to marble under tool controls
  • Set the brush tip setting to round/opacity=100/density=70/size=43/hardness=0/step=25 under the brush controls.
  • Spray a marbled pattern (you will get a darker image by spraying longer and a lighter pattern by randomly clicking and spraying).
  • Change the forground color to a dark red.
  • Select the paintbrush tool - paper texture=normal - brush tip setting size at 1.
  • Using the paintbrush tool draw lines to create a "lined look" to the marble. See example below:

  • Select the retouch tool/retouch mode=soften/brush tip size=1
  • Soften the edges of the red lines you created so that they blend in with the marble.
  • Below is the finished pattern.
  • Create a new image 300 x 100
  • Select the text tool and type in the text.
  • Select the flood fill tool/fill style=pattern click the options button and select the marbled pattern you just created.
  • Click on the inside of the text to fill with the marbled pattern.
  • Select images/effects/cutout/shadow color=black/opacity=100/blur=4/vertical=2/horizontal=2
  • Select images/effects/dropshadow and give it a drop shadow of 2 vertical and 2 horizontal.
  • Below is the finished image:

You can also create different colors by adding a new layer underneath the marbled pattern and using the layer transparency slider bar to change the transparency of the top layer.

Below are examples of using different bottom layer colors to create different colored marble.

To do this create a new layer and flood fill it with a solid color. Move the new layer UNDER the marble layer by clicking and dragging it underneath in the layer palette

You can also use the colors/colorize tool to create a different color.

Below are examples of buttons using the different colored backgrounds and the flood fill tool.
