Creating Cutout Text

Create a new image 300 x 100 bgcolor=white 16 million colors

Create a new layer by clicking the new layer graphic at the bottom of the layers palette.
- Change the foreground color to purple.
- Select the text tool and type in the text you are going to use.
- Select selections/modify/contract=3
- Select the floodfill tool/linear gradient- options set at 180 degrees
- Fill the cutout areas of the text with the linear gradient.
- Select images/effects/dropshadow and give it a drop shadow of 100 opacity/3.3 blur/1 vertical/1 horizontal
- Select/selections/select none
- Select images/effects/dropshadow and give it a drop shadow of 100 opacity/4.0 blur/3 vertical/0 horizontal.
