Creating Cutout Text

  • Create a new image 300 x 100 bgcolor=white 16 million colors
  • Create a new layer by clicking the new layer graphic at the bottom of the layers palette.
  • Change the foreground color to purple.
  • Select the text tool and type in the text you are going to use.
  • Select selections/modify/contract=3
  • Select the floodfill tool/linear gradient- options set at 180 degrees
  • Fill the cutout areas of the text with the linear gradient.
  • Select images/effects/dropshadow and give it a drop shadow of 100 opacity/3.3 blur/1 vertical/1 horizontal
  • Select/selections/select none
  • Select images/effects/dropshadow and give it a drop shadow of 100 opacity/4.0 blur/3 vertical/0 horizontal.
